Also one more thing that I have to say to yah two in here….we are no different from one another, we are all human, we all have feeling, even though we are two different people from a different world, there is one thing that can¦Åt be different from us…we all live in the same galaxy, but we are not that far apart from one another because we can travel to one another world…. 2007-03-01
3 E1ev1N
Hey cindel25 and krnbora, stop it right now! Move on with life, both of yah are wasting time to enjoy life don¦Åt yah know that? Anyway I am also a oversea fan in here and I would like to see friendship of two different people not enemies so stop whatever yah are arguring about and remember we must show love and peace to the world!!! 2007-03-01

I do not understand what this means. How am I overreacting? Once again, You WILL NEVER EVER UNDERSTAND where I¦Åm coming from this particular situation. You are not offended by a racist word. You are not offended by ignorant statements. You tell me I¦Åm not Korean and you get called on it. YOU ARE RACIST. YOU ARE IGNORANT. I¦Åm embarrased that YG has fans like you period. “Find my own class of people” and “To people like you”? Once again another ignorant statements. Reread your post below and on my blog. I did not make you say those words. Those words came from your own ignorant racist hate. Do not blame me for your attutide. DEAL WITH IT 2007-03-01

I really felt sorry for you before, but not anymore. Cause I¦Åm not your class. Go find your own class person- and go argure with them. Im much higher than that- It¦Ås not because you are black- I say like this to everyone. Sorry don¦Åt misunderstand 2007-03-01

You should understand meaning of the words between racism and stereotype. First problem by BIGBANG, there was comment that he was thankful that a person wasn’t African American. You should understand Korean culture circumstances. In Korea, African American people are much less pouplated than any other races. It will be really rare to see African American in Korea. You should think again whether his comment was meant by racism or not. I can say that it is one of stereotype to African American people by Korean because I don’t see any hatred in his comment. He isn’t also discriminating African American against whites. We listen African American peoples’ gangster music that has lots of bad words in it. Don’t you understand? By seeing African American, Korean people might have some fear against you guys because Korean people have seen bad things from you guys. This ain’t racist; it is just what African American made its stereotype to Korean people. Of course, stereotype isn’t good thoughts to have, but I’m pretty sure that almost everyone has stereotype on something. For second problem Masta Wu, there is N word in his lyrics. However, I’m 100% sure that he doesn’t mean against African American because the song is for Masta Wu and Teddy. The lyrics talks about them. It doesn’t related at all. I understand N word uses only by African American people. However, you should rethink whether there is an intention or not.
1 E1ev1N
Okay cindel25 I heard you…this crap must stop! Anyway what you said about me in the first sentence was misquoted…(Ok, change the subject)…. 2007-03-02
2 Cindel25
First of all, where did I say that “my people can only say the N -Word”? Please note that use of the statement “my people” is also offensive. Please point that out to me because I did not say that. Second, All people of race, ethnic, BLACK, WHITE, KOREAN what may have you SHOULD NOT SAY THAT WORD. I just want to be clear about that right now. That word is hateful and no one…NO ONE. should ever say that. I do not say that and I condem my “own people” who say that word. It is disgusting. It is hateful. It is racist. PERIOD! Did I do what first? Do you hear what seungri said? There was a big uproar about this and most people including those on this board all agree that YG should apologize because that comment was stupid. Nothing was misquoted; it was translated more than once. Freedom of Speech comes with responsibility. Again, I will not have this discussion anymore. 2007-03-02
3 E1ev1N
Oh and one more thing…Cindel25 I know that other people shouldn¦Åt said the “N” word except for your people, but heard me out of this: We are all create equal, we all have feeling, we are all humam being, we all have the same rights to speak for what we want to said so why is it wrong for Master Wu to said what he want to said? Isn¦Åt this world given people the freedom of speech? So why are you mad at Master Wu for what he said? You see…this whole crap thing need to stop!!!! 2007-03-02
4 E1ev1N
Oh my gosh, didn¦Åt I said stop this crap and why is it still continuing? Anyway let me said something in here too…first of all people should never judge a person before he or she get to know him or her better, Cindel25 did you do this first? If not, you shouldn¦Åt judge what Master Wu and Seungi said before you get to know them close enough…by the way don¦Åt get me wrong on this because I am also a oversea fan and I know how you¦Åre feeling right now, but remember superstars sometime get misquote so don¦Åt make this a big issue for yourself and for others…Even though I am not the same ethnic like you, I am a oversea fan like you and why not we just let go of the past and look forward to the future? I think that of what Seungi and Master Wu said really doesn¦Åt matter much as long they don¦Åt said the word “Hate”…. 2007-03-02
5 cindel25
I¦Åm not going to have this discussion anymore. I don¦Åt need to rethink anything, the comment was WRONG and Masta Wu should have hever said the word period. They are both wrong. 2007-03-01

My Enemy, My Friend
From krnbora
To cindel25 )) cindel25님 잘보세요.
First, I’m not a racist. This is not like 50’s. I can’t be racist, and I don’t want to be racist. Also I asked my friends about Seung-ri’s, you know- and they all said he was stupid. Buy you got to know this. He is young, and he not like American. Many people in Korea thinks Black people are like gangsters. Not all of them, but many of them. But it’s not like they are racist. They are not familiar with Black people. Not just Black people, white, Japanese, persian, everyone else. If you are big fan of YG, you got to understand this. I wasn’t mad at first. But you post that message so many times. If you want to make big deal out of this, then you can call YG, or send some mails to them. Because they won’t see your problem on here. And also Master Wu, he grew up in New York. He know about America more than anyone in YG. Also famous rapper in Korea, Tiger JK a.k.a Drunken Tiger, his song has n words, too. If you have big problem with it, then you can talk to them, too. Not just Master Wu. Many show programs, and cartoons in America contains some racism words or acts about Asia. We also feel bad about those. But we got to understand each other. You guys don’t know about us, and we don’t know about you. About Seung-ri, you got to understand him. You can say, “we felt really upset about his word, but this is his first time.. so we are cool. But we don’t want second mistake” To YG, everyone is important. Asians fans are important, and you guys are also important. So it’s all same, please don’t think that YG is doing black music, so you guys are the best. No, that’s very wrong. We are all important to YG equally. So.. I hope you understand what I mean.
I’m sorry about before,
I get mad real easily. Not very good thing.
Once again, I’m really sorry about before.
1 cindel25 –>” First, I┖m not a racist. This is not like 50┖s. I can┖t be racist, and I don┖t want to be racist”<– Time has nothing to do with. We still have racists in the year 2007. Yes you can be racist and Yes you are a racist. You attack me saying Im not korean so therefore I shouldn┖t (Fill in blank here). That really hurt and more importantly, it shows how a small number of Korean fans who think the way you do think about overseas fans. Also calling YG office simply will not do, they will not address the issues over the phone and they do not read fan letters. I know for a fact that the staff monitor this board; there was an incident between the 1tym fans and Big Bang┖s Manager and he apologize on this board. Also YG is doing a contest and will be looking for a name for KimJiEun, don┖t know if that is true anymore because there are so many messages as far back as on that alone. I am not a fan of DT so I cannot comment on them. Masta Wu may grew up in NYC but he can┖t say the word here regardless because he would be beat down; he can get away with it in Korea and think nothing of it. Do you live in the States? If you do, then you would know that show programs do not contains racism, words or acts about Asia; we have a standard for that and it will not be on the air period. Unlike Korea, there is a current situation about a book/comic book that shows Jewish people as bad people and there used to be a dating show there when there was a black female and the korean man that was paired with him acted like a monkey in blackface. YG is doing black music, their livelhood depends on the art form that orginated from the same people they are discriminating aganist. Do not be mistaken, we do not take the issues lightly here in america; when rappers do terrible things, we called them on it. So do not think we are pointing out YG unfairly; we are not

I’m not Korean
I get it now. I’m not Korean so I do not have a right to complain. I’m not Asian, so I do not have a right to say anything. The next time people tell me I’m not korean or asian think about the culture you’re trying to emulate.
—- From the YG Family Site: Here are the comments —-
1 cindel25 To missoul: Did you hear what Seungri said about African American in the States? Keep in mind that I was one of those people that went to ALL THREE YG CONCERTS and I have met them on those three different occasion. This is where the angry is coming from and not just from me, from other people like myself who are very very disappointed. Do you know that YG is trying to promote his artists here in the states? Do you know that Skull is doing Reggae Music and promoting in LA as we speak? Do know that Se7en is going to make his debut with Amerie who happens to be biracial(Black/Korean)? Yes, I do scream a people who say the N word like you for example who once again just rolls off your tounge like its no new thing. Reread my post again, the situation is Bullshit and they cannot come here with that frame of mind and that attutide going around thinking African American is going to shoot them and causually say the N-word. The fact that you keep saying “it┖s a song” shows me you do not get it all. Masta Wu said the word period. 2007-02-28
2 misssoul okay krnbora went too far and i dont think you understood what i said. maybe im not the one who needs to go back to study history but yer the one who needs to go back to study some english. i dont think racism is ridiculous.. its not like ppl arent racist against asian ppl.. i think flipping out at this kinda thing is ridiculous. so are you gonna bitch at everyone who says the word nigger? then you got lotta ppl to be screamin at right now. also, i never said you werent worthy of being a yg fan. i welcome non-krn yg fans. but not ones that call YG music bullshit. yeah you have the right to complain and so does everyone else no matter what race sex religion whatever they are. and you did it good for you. now turn the tv on and watch the racism going on on there.. then go complain to them. for crying out loud its a song..
cindel25 To Krnbora: Go to hell you stupid racist ignorant wannabe. You see her post everyone? Since I┖m not korean, I do not have a right to complain is that it? How about this YG should stop doing BLACK music then you won┖t have to worry Black fans like myself having a problem with discrimination and racist behavior. 2007-02-28
krnbora If you have problem with YG, then just leave. Nobody cares about you. If you think about YG, and you like YG, then call YG or send e-mail or something. They won┖t see your problem. We all know that you have a right to be upset, but me too. I have a right to upset at you. We don┖t want your fucking money. You think you are something? You are not korean so you think you are that important? It┖s not a question. So if you have problem with YG, then call them. Because they won┖t see here. 2007-02-28
cindel25 To misssoul: Of course YOU would think it┖s ridiculous because you┖re not the one offended by the material. You think racism is ridiculous? Nice to know what type of YG Fans we have here. Go back to school and learn some history behind the word. Don┖t ever step up to me and tell me I┖m not worthy of being a YG Fan. I as a YG Fan have a right to be upset and complaint about the music content that I am listening especially when I┖m paying money, dollars, “dirty cash” into this company. Please take your flip racist attutide out of here. 2007-02-28

I must direct you to this particular thread{note: it is protected, so you have registered to see it} YG Family about the latest situation regarding Masta Wu use of the N word.

1. you are not black.
2.”ni–a” is not a word for you to be saying because
3. it is an ignorant word made up by ignorant people…and used by ignorant people.

”here we go again” my ass. more like here THEY go again.
did you even hear the song?! and if we do write another letter, its not unjust.
i’m sick and tired of ppl saying we are doing something wrong when we are not.
let somebody say something negative/stereotypical or use ignorant terminology that refers to asians and all hell breaks loose…
like the commentators on the Oscars mistakenly said Japan instead of China and ppl are pissing themselves..and that was probably an honest mistake.
but for Wu to say Ni–a in his song is just ok right? and this time nobody can claim he’s ”naive” or ”young” because from what i gather this grown ass man speaks english just fine. and the rest of them (Teddy,Danny Jinu AND Sean) have all lived in the US so they know better…

Your missing the point completly
It’s wrong when he says it and it’s wrong when they say it!
But lets keep it real
if Wu was calling himself a “Gook” no one would care but if a black person used the term
“Gook” it’s really wrong right??
It’s a such an ignorant term
I’m not offended by it cuz I know I’m not a n-word
but other people are and the term has such a gross
history behind it.
I thought he would know better than to say such a thing.
You have to think, YG is planning to open up an office here in the states, they plan to have there artists debut here,
they can’t be trying to do that, using the N-word in there songs.
It’s just wrong to say, if u listen to Mobb Deep and Jinusean song, Mobb Deep makes themselves look like idiots using that term while Jinusean are not.
He just should not have said that, it doesnt matter who says it in there songs, you don’t need to say it, you know that’s a huge mistake right there.
I am well aware of how that word is used in america
and I think it is ignorant and foolish
but it shouldnt have been said!
Whoops I said I wasnt even going to discuss this

this is not the only time they’ve uttered the N word. Teddy alone have been using that word in songs since the late 90’s. and Jinusean? must we remind everyone?
fans seem to forget that YG is also about image as much as it is about music. not everything you see is what you get.

Okie going back on my word again lol!
I must clear this up
dun get the wrong idea peeps
no one is out to get Wu or anything
speaking for myself, I just don’t think he should have
said that, I’m not anymore or less mad at him
for doing what the rappers in america do
but c’mon Wu can’t say those things, I know it and u all know it as well
It’s straight up wrong, do u have a clue how many people
take major offense to that term??
and yes people do get riled up by this term
there have been so many issues involving explicit lyrics
in these songs, trust me, Wu aint even feeling no heat compared
to the heat people get in the states.
~cindel25 post Today, 12:53 AM Post #4316
Let’s keep it real REAL!
The only reason why Wu and others can get away with saying those things because they have Korea backing them up. Just like someone said in the BB thread, it’s the norm there and they think nothing of it. They can say it there and wouldn’t suffer the consequences but they would not even dare say it in the States cause they know their @sses would get beat down.
If you really want to go there about American artists, I remember when there was a boycott of Pespi because they made Luda their spokesperson. Pespi straighten up real quick.

it’s only ending up in a negative argument because certain ppl can’t seem to accept that their idols/favorite artists are not perfect, and so they try to ignore their flaws. you said so yourself that the only way for them to improve is for us fans to speak up….hell i quoted you in my signature. Masta Wu titled track “Do or Die” was released on the YG site and once again, YG Family has manage to pissed off the fans off.
The lyric “We rock hard N*gga” has been uttered from the mouth of Masta Wu and shame YG Family. This type of behavior is unacceptable.

Still no word
After I posted my letter and reposted it; someone who is korean studying in the states took it upon her/himself to write a note to YG on this issues.
“YG 보십시오. (ID cindel25님의 항의 관련)
미국의 일부 사이트에서 논란이 되고 있는 승리군이 한국의 라디오에서 했다는 아래와 같은 발언은 사실입니까?
“when the owner of the van saw me I was relieved he was Caucasian and not Black-American because I may have been shot”!

Letters to YG
Letters to YG ENT
This blog was created by fans of YG ENT and Big Bang. Thank you for taking the time to read it.
Hello,
I am a huge fan of YG Ent.As an overseas (American) fan I was very delighted last year when i found out that my favorite artists from S. Korea were going to have a concert here in NYC and other US cities. I even went to MTVK’s TRL taping to show my support (AND I GOT TO HUG se7en!! *cough* ok back on topic*cough*)… and my love for them and their music only grew after the concert and MTVK taping and I can probably say this for all of the fans who don’t get to see them regularly.
Anywho, I was always proud of the fact that my African American culture was being represented so well by the artists of YG ENT…..
As a member of Soompi forums, I, like other fans, get updated on the happenings of our favorite K-pop stars, and in a translation of a recent radio show featuring Big Bang, there was a comment said by Seung-ri; a member of Big Bang, about African Americans that I found to be offensive.
In response to this I have composed a letter to both Seung-ri and Mr.YG and I asked other members of Soompi forums to do the same. Some of these letters are from African American/Black American fans, and some are from Korean fans…some are White, Hispanic etc.
The main point is that we are all FANS who wish for Mr. YG, Seung-ri, and the other members of Big Bang to apologize for his stereotypical remark.
Please do not think that this is ”anti-_____” it is not.
btw, more comments can be viewed at: http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?act=findpost&pid=4818420

LETTER 1:
Dear seung-ri,
your comment about what happend to you in NYC really hurt and upset me. i am appalled that you would say such a thing especially when you know first hand that you have african american fans here in the states. i know u saw us @ the concert and MTV TRL…you even waved at us..so how can you say that!?!
i really hope that you apologize to your fans and i really hope you take some time out of your busy schedule to learn about the african americans in this country..i hope that you learn about the music you are singing, the styles of clothing you are wearing, the styles of hair your band mate is sporting the styles of dance you and your band mates are performing
i really hope you learn about all of the beautiful, and wonderful things that African Americans/Black Americans have contributed to this country …please learn of those things…and not just the hear say and the bad things because EVERY race has bad seeds..not just us.
–a disappointed fan

Dear Mr. YG,
As the founder of YG Entertainment, I applaud and respect you for believing in and representing Black American Culture through the types of music, literature, and establishments that bear your name. Being a young African American fan of Korean Pop culture, I was delighted when I came across your label and artists. Since then, they have become my favorites in the whole of the Korean music scene and I; along with many other African American/Black American fans, have spent a lot of time and money to show my gratitude for the uniqueness that is YG FAMILY.
The quality of the music you produce is a testament of how dedicated you are to the Hip Hop/ R&B cultures that was originated by the Black men and women in America.
However with that being said, I must comment on a radio interview that one of your popular groups (Big Bang) was recently a guest on.
Based on a fan translation of said radio show, Seung-ri (and a few others?) had talked about an incident when they were in America for YG’s 1OTH Anniversary Concert, and had a mishap with a stranger’s van…this was a cute and funny little story, until the last comment..when it was said that he was glad the stranger was Caucasian instead of Black…implying that if it were a Black man who had been the owner of the van instead of a White man, Seung-ri’s life would have been in danger. (”could’ve gotten shot” is the quote from the translation) I am truly disappointed by this comment because as a record label that upholds African American/Black culture, I feel that this type of stereotypical and racist statement is so very wrong. With the many African American/Black Americans that work for you/have worked for you/will work for you (including the choreographers, back-up dancers, writers, etc.) I feel that the least that Big Bang can do is to apologize for this disenchanting comment. Not only is it a disrespect to the fans (both Asian and Black), the African American Culture as a whole, but it is disrespectful to you and your vision, as stated on your main website.
I understand that his (Seung-Ri’s) comment was not intentionally malicious, but it still hurt my heart that someone who’s music I enjoy is so clueless that he believes the stereotypes that are placed upon the Black Community in America.
I know it’s not my place to tell you how to run your company, but as an African American fan who has supported you and your artists for the past 5 years, all I ask of you is two things.
1. please ask Big Bang member Seung-ri to issue an apology to his fans and the fans of YG ENTERTAINMENT
and
2. please ask that the trainees and established artists who also may feel this way also to please learn about and appreciate the beautiful and good things that African Americans/Black Americans have brought to the table in the entertainment business/fashion industry both here in the USA and in Korea.
Thank you for taking the time to read my heartfelt letter, and taking into consideration anything that I have said.
YG FAMILY fan for life,
TIFFANY

LETTER 2:
Dear Suengri,
Hello, my name is Ashley and I am an african american fan;)
U might have noticed me and my sisters at MTV when you guys performed; we were cheering you on for your fantastic performance.
Anyways, as a fan of YG ent, my fav korean lablel I keep track of alot but today I received something from my friend Tiffany and she was pretty upset and what upset her was your comment about the YG 10th anniversary concert..you know the one where you snuck in the car? and I read the comment you made about african americans and getting shot.
I have to say I was dissappointed that you would say a thing like that, because you know that you have african american fans, you do r&b, hip hop, your clothing is the hip hop style and I’ve seen you working with african american dancers as well, I was offended by the comment that you made because I feel like you just generalized and that’s not cool. And I also want to point out that black people arent the only one’s who go around shooting people, white people do it as well. I don’t think that you intended to be racist, but I think you should have thought before you spoke because it was kind of hurtful to me as well as my sisters and other african american YG fans. In this day in age all of minorities are getting stereotyped and instead of helping each other we keep it going with the generalizing, I hope that you understand that all african american’s are not like that, when you said that it made us black fans feel a lil unimportant because now we think “I wonder if at the YG concert and TRL they thought we were some ghettofab gangbangers” we really took this to heart and I hope that you apologize, I don’t think your racist or anything but I hope that you learn from this Suengri. I’m not trying to mean, I just think you should next time think before you speak.
-Ashley

LETTER 3
Dear SeungRi
Yesterday I was searching a Big Bang thread, and came across a Translation of a comment you made on a radio station which really confused me. You were telling a story about how you got into a van that resembled your’s. What upset me was the part “when the owner of the van saw you you were releaved he was Caucasian and not Black-American because you may have been shot”!
With you being a hip hop artist which came from Black-American culture the thought of you thinking of Black-Americans this way is disturbing. I really dont want to think ill of a Big Bang member, but this really offended me because I am half Black-American.There’s ALOT of Black-American YG fans(including myself). To say something like this is not a good way in showing your appreciation. Please understand that an apology is very well needed.
A Black-American is not the only person that can/will pull a trigger.I am a fan that doesnt want to turn away from your music please don’t give me a reason too .

LETTER 4
Dear Seung Ri & YG,
I am an Asian American, YG Family fan commenting on the remark made against African Americans on the radio while Big Bang were the guests. It was very offending to me. I feel that if an ethnicity, such as African, Korean, or German, wants to be accepted and respected, you must first accept and respect others. So, if YG artists want to expand their music to a diverse country, they should respect all ethnicities in all ways, shapes, and forms. The comment on African Americans categorized all of them into one group, and the comment made it seem as though African American fans of YG would do that too. YG Entertainment has many loving fans of all ethnicities that love and support all the artists. So, please do not say these kinds of hurtful things in the future. This remark from Seung Ri does not make me less of a fan of Big Bang or any artist from YG but it does make me disappointed. And I, too, hope that Seung Ri apologizes to his fans. (8

LETTER 5
Dear BIG BANG (SEUNG RI),
For a long time, I have been a quiet fan of BIG BANG, buying your albums and attending the YG CONCERT in LA. I have also admired you guys for being so young, yet talented. I was impressed by your performance here in LA and I, in my best way possible, have supported you until now.
However, after I heard your comments made on a certain radio station (about Seung ri’s comment about african americans), I was shocked and extremely disappointed. To you guys, that comment might have sounded funny, but to us Americans it sounds ignorant. I am not an African-American and i am proud to say that I am a Korean American. But your comments made me feel embarassed by own race. How can you support such ignorance? Your so-called jokes were unnecessary and you were plain rude. You have so many non-Korean fans here in America, and I know for a fact that they have felt a sense of disappointment in all the BIG BANG members. I myself have lost all my respect for you guys.
I have remained a respectful fan of YG ENT. You have respected the music you produced, the clothes you wear, etc. But i believe the singers should also pay that same respect to their fans. You made a mistake in thinking that your comments would never be heard by any African Americans. And if you thought that your comments wouldn’t hurt any African Americans, you have also made a big mistake. Just because you guys are singers, it does not give you the right to go around saying everything you want.
All I can say is that your ignorance has greatly disappointed me. The energy and excitement BIG BANG showed in their music seems to downplay in my mind right now. An apology shouldn’t be considered..it should be given.
A disppointed fan,
Jay.

LETTER 6
Dear YG,
I am to understand that YG Entertainment is a record label expanding the music and culture of Korea. I congratulate you in your success in many countries, and wish you luck in upcoming ventures into the American market.
Due to recent comments made by one of the artists in the company, I feel I must warn you of the differences in culture. Americans, including all Asian-American fans, are insulted by any racist comments. I understand that from a cultural perspective, there may well be completely different definitions as to what racism entails. No offense may be meant , but growing up in a diverse community, Americans learn to watch language in respect to race.
The comment in question was said during a radio show in MBC. Most non-Korean fans read the translation given by a few Korean-American fans. Most fans in the United States are of non-Korean origin; living in a diverse community means people disregard the Korean stereotype spread by the media. In return, fans came to assume that YG Entertainment, a label that has shown such an acceptance and tolerance of the world, also respected racial diversity.
By publicly presenting a strongly held idea of African-Americans, as a people strapped to their media presentation of “being gangster”, YG Artists show that they truly do not appreciate other cultures. African Americans are constantly portrayed by the mainstream hip-hop media as aggressive. I’ve no doubt that there are aggressive African-Americans. This is not limited to their race. European-Americans have an extensive record playing against them as well. Being of a Japanese racial background influence, I may say that Japanese-Americans do not have a clean record either. Yakuza may be plentiful, but hardly the average citizen on the street. The same applies to African-American citizens. Denying African-Americans the passion, intelligence, and general sociability most present is to close oneself off to a people and like sheep follow a fictional three minute music video on TV.
While fans of the group understand that no harm was meant towards African-Americans, the implication on how European-Americans may be “better” people is shameful. Perhaps American fans are no where near as passionate as Korean fans, such as pursuing cars, camping outside a hotel, or taking time out to focus solely on the artist. We are content to wish them well, listen to their music, and perhaps ask for an autograph. Regardless of the latter, fans in the United States feel a sort of representation given by the Asian community, ie. the musicians’ opinions affect fans. Asian-Americans do not wish to be viewed as racist, especially after recent media programs in the United States have born many articles speculating on the racial acceptance of the Asian-American community. Adding the musicians, that we listen to, to that list of racial opinions hardly creates pride.
Listeners in the United States hardly banned the accused artists for the off hand and off color remarks. We do, however, wish for consideration on their part, especially since we recognize that there are a number of African-American fans in question of whom were all insulted (may I mention that fans of all origins were also put off), by the comments. I only hope that YG Entertainment can please take into your hearts and mind the worries and hopes of the fans abroad. In no way do I wish to discourage any trips to the United States, nor create an image of dislike amongst international fans. As fans of Korean music in general, we truly hope that we can consider and respect each other to create a mutual good relationship.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through the concerns of fans,
Kisa Esquivel

LETTER 7
Dear Mr.YG,
Recently I’ve read a translation of a radio interview with Big Bang and their experience in America.
But there was a particular comment SeungRi and everyone else there agreed to; which was about being glad it was a caucasian rather than a black american or he would’ve been shot.
I know the radio show was made for fans in Korea to listen but you have to realize Big Bang has many non-korean fans as well, and we are always updated. It’s a bit ironic how Big Bang is part of your company and it represents HIP-HOP/RnB yet they seem to be afraid of the people who originally created the music and those they work with @ YG as well.
Please teach your artists to respect other races for they will always have fans around the world and espeically in America.
And for them to be careful of what they say because no matter where all fans are listening.
Thank you for taking your time to read this.

LETTER 8
Dear Big Bang,
Hi, My names Precious, Im an African American Fan.
I was reading something on a forum today that greatly upset me. It was a comment made by big bang members about a story Seung Ri told. The story was funny at first, but by the end I was shocked, and appalled. I couldnt believe what I was reading. The comment was degrading, and uncalled for. I have no idea what would make you afraid of African americans, but that doesnt give you the right to generalize and assume that the entire race is violent and toting guns. You guys are hip-hop artists, I would think that you know this. Assuming that you learned about the African American culture, when you were learning about hip-hop. I really do hope that you guys apologize, and correct this. So as to not feed the stereotypes flying about in Korea, and the rest of the world about African Americans.
YOUR HIGHLY OFFENDED fan
Precious.

Dear Mr YG
Im saddened to have come across an offending statement made by Yg’s Big bang members, on a radio station about an incident that took place in Nyc. The Last comment being “I was glade the man was white and not African American” to which the group said Seung Ri was afriad of being shot. I do hope that this matter is corrected. I do hope that the Big Bang members are exposed to more African American culture since they are ..dressing, sing, in an African American manner. Thank you for your time, and consideration.
An offended *Yet devoted* YG fan
Precious.

Dear Mr. YG,
First, I want to thank you for your manifestation and interpretation of African-American culture within the music that your company produces and for spreading this vision throughout Korea.
I remember being excited when I first came upon the artists from your label. I appreciated it because I felt it wasn’t an act and that RnB and Hip Hop music wasn’t being produced and performed only as a trend. I feel that most of your artists truly acknowledge and believe in the music that they take part in.It is because of that fact I have become a bona-fide fan of your label and the artists that reside under it.
Nevertheless, I must get to the reason why I am writing this letter. I recently came across a fan’s translation of a radio show interview that the members of Big Bang were the subject of. The topic of an occurrence when they visited America for YG’s Tenth Anniversary Concert that involved Big Bang member Seung-ri entering a strangers van. I continued to read and I came across a statement which declared that Seung-ri was relieved that the stranger was Caucasian instead of African-American because he may have been shot; implying that he would have been in some sort of danger. I was very hurt and disheartend by this comment especially coming from a member of a band that sings and performs RnB and Hip-hop music; music that was created and influenced by African-Americans. Futhermore, I was disappointed because Big Bang is a group that is supported and put-forth by your company which claims to represent, appreciate and exemplify RnB and Hip-Hop music and the African-American culture that said music is attributed to.
I am not making this statement because I no longer want to be a fan of the music you or your artists make. I don’t believe that Seung-ri’s comment holds any clout or bias behind it but I am concerned because this is a resident on your record label; a label that makes claims and statements that contradict the words that came out of Seung-ri’s mouth. It makes me no longer want believe what your company alleges that it is about.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my words of concern.
Disappointedly,
